Food / Smoothies

The most used item in my kitchen without a doubt is the blender, I've had the Omni Blend V for the last 8 months or so and it's been a dream, it handles anything I put in there. When it comes to food my approach is based around simplicity and creating things quickly with minimal effort. Here are a few of my favourite blended creations.

Beginners Greenie
If you are new to green juices/smoothies then this is a great place to start. It's super refreshing, filling and tastes amazing.
Ingredients include:
  • Slice of watermelon (~ 1 inch thick)
  • 4 Strawberries
  • 1/2 Small Avocado
  • Fresh mint
  • 2 Handfuls of Spinach
  • Around 1/2 - 1/4 cup of liquid (coconut water or plain water)

A great start to the day
This creation is one of my staples. I'll often mix up the ingredients a little depending on what I have available. The base ingredients include:
  • 1/8 Cup Chia Seeds soaked in home-made almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana,
  • 1 cup of almond milk

Combinations that I add to the base include:
  • Cinnamon, Dates (~4) and a small handful of Cashew Nuts (pictured)
  • Raw Cacaco Nibs
  • Peanut Butter (mixed with coconut oil - Mayvers make a great one)
  • Fresh Berries (pictured)

I recently started topping the smoothie with caramelised buckins which is awesome when its a thick smoothie that needs a spoon for eating.

Healthy Ice Cream
Home made ice cream is one of my all time favourite treats. The best part is that it super easy to make (and did I mention guilt free). Here are a few ice cream ideas.

Mango Banana
  • 1 x Frozen Mango
  • 1.5 x Frozen Banana
  • 1/4 Cup of Soy Milk (you may need to add a little more to assist the blending process)

Banana Choc Mint (Pictured)
  • 2 x Frozen Banana
  • Lots of fresh mint
  • Raw Cacao nibs to your liking
  • 1/4 Cup of Soy Milk (you may need to add a little more to assist the blending process)

Acai Bowl
A great meal for anytime of the day, This acai bowl rocks. Here are the ingredients:
  • 1 x Packet of frozen Acai
  • 1 x Frozen Banana
  • ~ 1/4 cup of coconut water
  • Small handful of almonds (or other nuts) and cacao nibs
  • Small handful of caramelised buckins or toasted museli
  • Sliced Fresh Strawberries (~ 4 - 5)
  • Scoop of Coyo Coconut Yoghurt

Blend the acai, banana and coconut water, then pop everything else on top. Can also add a scoop of peanut butter for a nutty flavour.
